The Company has completed numerous projects involving railroad bridges, track construction, continuous welded rail installation, switch and turnout installation, crossings, welding and tie replacement/installation. Job Description :

Capital Railroad Contracting Inc. is a rapidly growing Railroad Bridge, Track, and Maintenance Contractor based in Columbia, MO. We construct railroad bridges, new industry tracks and perform many maintenance-of-way tasks for Class 1 and industry clients. We are accepting applications and resumes for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work in our Columbia, MO shop. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for, but not limited to repairing, rebuilding and maintaining all equipment within the company.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Perform engine overhauls
  • Determine overall condition of machines through inspections
  • Diagnose issues with heavy equipment and repair to working order
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints
  • Utilize operators and parts & maintenance manuals to perform preventative maintenance
  • Ability to weld, grind, and torch
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment
  • Possess and maintain a class F driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
  • Perform Hi-rail and DOT inspections
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work
  • Keep a clean and safe work area and follow all safety rules
  • Some travel required within the Midwest Region

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Self-motivation and ability to learn on the go
  • Willingness to grow within the company
  • 6+ years of experience as a mechanic
  • Ability to navigate and use fleet tracking system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional detail-oriented, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Ablity to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Physically able to move objects and service-related tools that may weigh up to 75 pounds
  • Knowledge of railwood type equipment is a plus
